Teen Culinary Adventures 2010
$550 per weekly session.
Ages 12 - 17
Camp runs from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Friday

Session 1: July 12th - 16th

This week long summer camp is for the food lover in your life that is creative in the kitchen and loves an adventure.
Each day we will consist of a field trip to one of our area’s culinary enriched destinations. We will spend the morning touring the site, tasting the wonderful offerings and gathering our ingredients. The afternoon will see us back in the kitchen creating delicious dishes from scratch. The week will culminate with a lunch hosted by the students. Each camper can invite 2 guests to enjoy their week's creation.
This year, our summer culinary adventure camp will focus on ingredients that can found in our own back yard. From harvesting locally grown organic vegetables, from digging clams to, touring a local cheese making farm, then making our own cheese - this will be a true "eat local" week.
Why is eating locally an important habit to teach our children?
- Eating locally grown food helps in the fight against global warming - eliminates gas costs to ship foods.
- Eating locally helps the local economy and leads to responsible land development.
- Even when not organic, smaller farms use less chemicals then factory farms.
- Local foods are fresher and they simply taste better!

This week will teach your teen:

Basic knife skills and kitchen safety and sanitation
- Fundamental cooking and baking techniques and kitchen preparation skills
- Firsthand experience of the availability and origins of various foods and ingredients
- How to create, prepare and present their own menu
- How to stop for ingredients, budget expenses and manage time

Kids "Around the Globe" Culinary Tour
Ages 8 - 12
Monday - Thursday
9:30 - 12:00 pm
$180 per child. Limit 12 children per class.
July 26th - 29th
This week we will travel the globe and be introduced to different countries through their unique culinary contributions. The children will learn basic knife skills and fundamental culinary techniques through hands on cooking. The children will cook each day's menu from scratch then sit down to enjoy the lunch they created. The menus are designed to be age appropriate, yet to expand the palate and culinary experiences beyond the typical kid's foods. Different culinary techniques and flavors will be introduced to help the children discover the process and pleasure of cooking and sharing food together.
2 Day Mini Adventure Camp
Ages 8 - 12
9:00 am - 12:30 pm
$100 per child. Limit 6 children per class.
July 5th – July 6th
Based on our older adventure camp, our Mini Camp is a 2 day culinary adventure. We will spend the first day visiting an Asian super market. A mini scavenger hunt will revel exotic and uncommon ingredients (duck tongues anyone?). Students will be given a “budget” and are urged to be adventurous in their menus. The second day is spend transforming the ingredients purchased in to our own mini feast. |
